Eli McIntosh was born on the 5th of December along with his brother Nolan, but they both have different stories to tell. We’ll be blogging lots about both of these rascals but first, we’d like to tell you the story of Eli and what he has become at just 3 months young.
When he was born, he was a mere 5lbs 15oz. He was a small creature to us and being new parents, we really were not sure what to do but give in to our parental instincts. I’m not sure how many of you have held a 5lb baby, but it’s a strange feeling holding such a small and fragile life in your palms.

Eli at about 3 weeks old. Bath time.
Eli’s name came about in a random conversation about “What should we name our kids?” It was one of the only names we really agreed on and was decided before we knew about the twin factor. We had it picked out and all figured out, or so we thought. He was always deemed as baby number 1 being first in line to enter the world. He was in, as our doctor would say, “Launch position” for the last few months leading up to his birth. The name is not a common name, but is a very powerful name in our opinion. According to the baby name book, this is it’s definition:
The name Eli comes from the Hebrew origin. In Hebrew The meaning of the name Eli is: High, ascended, or ‘my God’. Famous bearer: The Old Testament priest Eli cared for the prophet Samuel when Samuel was a child.
So there you have it. It is a noble name of biblical reference. We didn’t even know it had biblical ties when we chose it but were pleasantly surprised when we finally read about it’s meaning.

Serious Eli.
Eli’s development at 3 months old is on a quick and fast paced highway. He’s grabbing, making noises, grunting, head bobbing, eating like crazy, and always in a very serious mood. He rarely breaks from his intense face and tends to look like he’s solving things in his head constantly.
We’re starting to see more smiles though. He continues to show his personality on a daily basis. Foreign objects like his Tigger and Pooh bear often captivate his attention invoking long staring contests and random grunts as if he’s trying to communicate. We’re pretty sure he is going to be the more inquisitive one in the family. We’ll tell you about his brother in another post, because he’s the complete opposite.

Eli the Silly Guy.
Eli has a great attitude most of the time and has been a great baby. His dark side in life so far rears it’s mischievous head when the sun goes down and the clock hits 9 PM. For some reason, just like his Dad, he has a burst of energy and is destined to stay awake and fussy. This goes on un-pacified for about 3 to 4 hours. He’s slowly breaking this pattern, but it certainly has been a challenge for us. If you have kids, you know sleep is golden and nothing is more frustrating than a kid that won’t go to sleep at night time.
We’re excited to see Eli’s development on a daily basis. Each day holds new surprises and it seems as if he sets goals for him self to reach each day. He’ll utter some noise or burst out in smile just because he can it seems. He’s an adorable baby and we just know he will grow up to be a great man. But not just yet. We’ve got a long way to go!
